Boxing Day fight: Seven held

Police investigating a fight on Boxing Day, which left a man seriously injured, have arrested seven people.

A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital after an alleged fight involving up to 20 men and women armed with baseball bats and shovels.

The disturbance happened at about 2:30am on 26 December on Hogganfield Street in the Blackhill area of Glasgow.

Strathclyde Police said that seven men have been arrested and are presently detained in police custody for alleged breach of the peace and alleged carrying of offensive weapons in connection with the incident.

Three of the men are aged 22, while the others are aged 18, 21, 26 and 27.

They are expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
