Campus sale commended

UNIVERSITY chiefs have been praised by the city council for their handling of the sale of the Royal Dick vet school site.

Edinburgh University put the Summerhall campus on the market earlier this year as the school prepares to complete its gradual relocation to a facility south of the city at Easter Bush.

Council officials have been working with the university to draw up a development brief for the site. Dave Anderson, director of the council's city development department, said: "The university is to be commended for its approach to the disposal of the School and its engagement with the council, Historic Scotland and the community."

He added: "The council and Historic Scotland recognise that some interventions may be necessary in order to maintain viable alternative uses for the building."
