Bitter news on Scottish bees

A LACK of queens mating, bad weather, parasites and disease have left Scotland's honey bee colonies in their worst state for years, according to the Scottish Beekeepers Association.
Its president, Ian Craig, said there had been significant losses in the Black Isle and Easter Ross. Cold weather has led to eggs not being fertilised, which means they produce more males than worker females.
