CHINA will launch its third manned space mission later this month when the Shenzhou 7 is launched
from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in the northwestern province of Gansu.

Three astronauts, one of whom will conduct China's first space walk, will be on board. The mission will be broadcast live using cameras inside and outside the craft.

And definitely with no Tibetan cosmonauts on board.

And good luck to them on their space walk, hope it comes off all ok.

Just an after thought, but if these lads could open up a takeaway while they are up there that would be right handy for the lads on the space station. Hey could be another first for China.

And how will we know if the "live" pictures were not pre-recorded or computer generated as they did with the Olympic ceremonies?
Besides what is a country trying to achieve third world status doing squandering all this money which could be better spent attempting to lift its people out of chronic poverty?
Red China's space ambitions are no more than a massage for the egos of the pariah murdering gangster thugs who run the country.

#4 China has lifted more people out of poverty faster than any other country in the world.

#1 Cackling Insanity at it again. As Tibet is an intrinsic part of China, you could be very wrong sport! You as usual are out of touch with reality.Mashimoro stated a fact on the number of people lifted out of poverty in China in such a short time and continue to do so.We wish the astronauts all the best in their endeavour. Yang LiWei the first Chinese astronaut in space is a local lad from here in Liaoning Province.
#4 MacGillicuddy, what a sour individual you are!As for the usual comment on those leading China? At least they are leading the country to prosperity. What is your excuse for your murdering leaders'plunging your country into a backwards free-fall,which plunges more into poverty every second?

Analysts on the mainland say if the space walk during Shenzhou VII's mission succeeds, it would be a fitting response to the United States' strategy over the past two decades of trying to isolate China in space by setting strict export embargoes and rejecting its requests to join the International Space Station programme.
"To some extent we needed the United States. Without their hostility, we wouldn't be so determined to develop our own space station programme," said a space security expert who asked not to be identified.

"Sour"? Me? Surely sweet and sour!!

But at least by not denying my assertion you are finally agreeing that what passes for the government in Red China is a bunch of pariah murdering gangster thugs.
Yes we have murdering leaders like Brown, Blair etc etc too but at least we get the chance to change them in a democratic vote and are allowed the freedom of speech to call them what we wish.

And of course we do not live in fear of our government calling on us in the middle of the night. Our government does not DELIBERATELY keep us in enforced poverty. You guys will never achieve your coveted third world status until the likes of Hu Jintao and his murdering pals stop lining their own pockets.

grats on joining the space race...

in the words of control to the mercury astronauts...
"godspeed"...

ruskies call theirs cosmonauts...

you really call yours astronauts, or is that just a poor translation?

so I guess the race is on to the moon? and beyond?
14

Mashimaro,

China 09/09/2008 02:13:23
#13 Hey Mike. We call them Taikonauts (I'll have to check the pinyin spelling on that). The objective is our own space station. Soon it will only be us and the Russkies in space.
15

mike - across the pond,

hey mashi 09/09/2008 15:47:48
forget who said it.... think it was hienlien....

"the meek shall inherit the earth... the rest of us are going to the stars"

the US may indeed be earthbound for a while if the "cradle to grave" liberals take control...

we (americans) NEED somebody with a VISION... a DREAM to pursue... BO doesnt posess it, and he actually has said NASA is "no longer associated with inspiration"... Biden has one vote in support of ISS funding... McCain is a BIG nasa guy, and supports flying the shuttle beyond 2010 until new Orion EV comes onlind... Palin, has no record with regards to NASA...

I'd like to see a hard commitment to a Mars landing by 2020 goal... we could do it... viable plans are out there...

can we elect a leader with a vision.... THATS the question
16

mike - across the pond,

oh and mashi 09/09/2008 15:55:16
I dont care one way or the other if you all come along...

thats GREAT.... the more the merrier....

on one condition... no "borders"... no "chinese only" part no "EU only" part.... no "american only" part

this is a mission from EARTH... we all go together...
17

Mashimaro,

China 10/09/2008 01:21:29
#16 Gee Mike, that's what we wanted, but for years the US didn't want us to play in the space sand pit. You can forgive us if it takes a while before we feel keen to shake hands and be friends.
I can't help thinking the new enthusiasm on your part is because Nasa is dead in the water and the Russians are becoming more than a little ticked off at being forced to be the free taxi to the space station for the US.
18

mike - across the pond,

ah mashi.... 10/09/2008 02:57:14
see we arent all so closed minded.... lol

problem for nasa will be if BO gets the whitehouse....

McCain will keep it going...

BO's views pretty much seals my support for McCain...

Hey Dude when will u answer our questions.

U never gave us the answer to

How many Chinese are executed each year by Ur masters the CCP. The West say its 15.000 executions.

U never gave us the answer to:
How many Chinese women are forced to abort.

The West say its between 11 million and 13 million Chinese women that are forced to abort.

Has the cat got Ur tongue dude. Or did the CCP terror squad seal Ur lips with fear.

Do U have a backbone ?
